How do the grid cells work? Tap a cell to cycle through off, normal, accent, and ghost. Accents stomp; ghosts sit back.
Mute and solo. M and S at the head of each row. Solo wins over mute, and a silenced row dims. It applies to fills too.
Saving grooves. The folder button saves the current grid, tempo, and swing to your pattern library, and Song mode chains saved patterns into a loop.
Making it feel human. Humanize jitters each hit's velocity without changing the grid; per-voice lay-back drags a voice slightly behind the beat.
Ableton Link. AmenBeats syncs tempo with Ableton Live and other Link apps on the same network. If peers are not appearing, both devices must be on the same network and AmenBeats needs local network permission — check Settings if you declined it the first time.
MIDI. Import a Standard MIDI File to load a groove onto the grid; General MIDI channel-10 drum notes map to the four voices, quantized to the nearest 16th.
It plays on silent mode. That is deliberate — it is an instrument.
The four templates are study approximations of well-known breaks — close enough to recognise, simple enough to change. They are not transcriptions of the original copyrighted recordings, and no audio from those recordings is used.
