Grubber Desk is a reader. It displays transcribed podcast material and news
coverage fetched from the grubber service at
bd-grubber.fly.dev. There is no account, no login, and no user
profile. This policy states exactly what leaves your device and what is kept.
Grubber Desk stores two things in your system preferences: the API key you paste
into Settings, and the service address (which defaults to
bd-grubber.fly.dev and which you may override). Nothing else is
persisted, and neither value is synced to iCloud.
Every request Grubber Desk makes is a read-only HTTP GET to
bd-grubber.fly.dev/api/v1/. The app never sends a
POST, a PUT, or a request body of any kind. It uploads
no files, no audio, and no documents.
Requests carry your API key in an X-Client-Key header. That key
authorizes an application's access to the service. It is not generated
per user or per device and does not identify you — testers share the
same key.
Grubber Desk sends no user identity, no account, no device identifier, no advertising identifier, no telemetry, no crash reports, and no reading history. What you open and how long you read it is not reported anywhere.
When you use Search, the words you type are sent to the service as part of the request so it can run the query. Search text is the only content you type that ever leaves your device.
Being plain about where it lands: the service currently writes a standard web server access log, and a request's address — including your search terms — appears in that log. Those logs exist for operating and debugging the service. They are not used to build a profile, are not linked to any identity, and are not sold or shared. They age out with the hosting provider's ordinary log retention.
We intend to stop recording search terms in that log. Until that ships, the paragraph above is what happens, and this page will be updated when it changes.
Beyond the access log described above, Grubber Desk requests are not recorded. The service stores podcast and news material it has gathered from publishers; it does not store per-reader records, because it never learns who the reader is.
Grubber Desk contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs, and no third-party trackers of any kind. There is no Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and no cross-app or cross-site tracking. Nothing is collected for advertising and nothing is sold.
Grubber Desk does not access your camera, microphone, contacts, photo library, calendar, health data, or location — precise or approximate.
Grubber Desk presents podcast transcripts and news reporting produced by their respective publishers, for reading, search, and discovery. Rights remain with those publishers. Each article and episode view identifies its source and links back to the original page. Opening that link hands off to your browser, where the publisher's own privacy policy applies.
Grubber Desk is not directed at children. It surfaces unfiltered current events and unedited podcast language.
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
